The Ruins (German Ruins)

About The Ruins (German Ruins)
The Ruins, also known as the German Ruins or German Ruin and Cliff, is one of Bantayan Island's most intriguing attractions. Located on the eastern coast of Santa Fe, this site consists of the skeletal remains of a house once owned by a German expatriate, which was destroyed by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013. What remains of the structure has been transformed into an unlikely tourist attraction and Instagram hotspot. The concrete walls and foundations have been covered in colorful graffiti art, creating a stark yet artistic contrast against the blue ocean backdrop. The mysterious history of the house - the German owner reportedly left the property years before the typhoon for unknown reasons - adds to its allure. Beyond photography, The Ruins has become a popular cliff jumping spot. During high tide, visitors can leap from the cliffside near the ruins into the sea below, providing an adrenaline rush for thrill-seekers. The site is free to visit and offers a unique combination of mystery, art, and adventure that you won't find anywhere else on the island.
