Cebu Taoist Temple

About Cebu Taoist Temple
The Cebu Taoist Temple is a magnificent Chinese temple built in 1972 by Cebu's substantial Chinese-Filipino community. Located in the exclusive Beverly Hills Subdivision at an elevation of 110 meters above sea level, the temple is a striking example of traditional Chinese architecture with its multi-tiered, colorfully painted structures. The temple is dedicated to Taoism and serves both as a place of worship and a cultural landmark showcasing Chinese heritage in Cebu. Visitors are welcome to explore the temple grounds, climb the iconic 81 steps (representing the 81 chapters of Taoism's sacred scripture), and learn about Taoist practices including fortune telling using wooden blocks. From the temple grounds, visitors enjoy impressive views of the surrounding cityscape and the Mactan Channel. The serene atmosphere, intricate dragon carvings, and traditional Chinese gardens make it a peaceful escape from the bustling city below. Unlike some religious sites, the Taoist Temple welcomes both worshippers and tourists alike.
